PIN Interview: Zimbabwe Educational Trust

by Nick Raikes, @NRaikesy, The PIN Team.

The Zimbabwe Educational Trust is a charity which has evolved with the changing needs of Zimbabwe and the shifting attitude to immigration of the UK. It started out helping young people from the newly independent Zimbabwe come to Britain on scholarships to get education beyond the level of high school that was not available to them at home. But as the UK Government made it harder for Zimbabweans to come here to study, the Zimbabwe Educational Trust changed its modus operandi to supporting tertiary education in Zimbabwe itself, using grants from the Department of International Development. Nick Raikes talks to the founder of the Zimbabwe Educational Trust, Vulindlela Mkandla about how the charity has developed and adapted.
